It is the difficult jobs that are the most satisfying when you stand back and take in the end result. This house was only ten years old but the new owners wanted to create a space that the whole family could enjoy. With two small children the project was to create one space that was suitable for cooking, eating, socialising and of course, playing! The original kitchen was a reasonable size, but disconnected from the adjoining rooms and large garden. We proposed a rear extension which provided a great opportunity to create a unique space. The most challenging part of this build was the size of the steel required to brace the extension and the amount of foundation required, all achieved with very limited access. We used huge cranes to hoist the steel over the house. Another challenge was ensuring complimented the original design of the property, which was hugely important to our client to ensure the space flowed. A key part of the project was the large patio and powder coated bi-fold aluminium doors which are the central feature of the room. It just grabs your attention the minute you walk in. Along with the Velux sky lights, it creates a bright, open feel even on the most grey of British days.
This is one of my standout projects from the last couple of years. It was such a technically challenging build with such a great finish. I'm proud to have been part of it.
